The forecast rain came yesterday. It rained steadily for most of the day which is just what we needed. More rain today so the grass is starting to look as though it is going to turn from brown to green again.
The heifers have been moved onto fresh grass for a couple of weeks and we have moved the sheep onto fresh ground too so that the lambs get chance to grow.
Odessa and her calf have the heifers left over field and silage. Unfortunately for Odessa the silage is in a feeder. The calf can get his head in, but Odessa can only pick round the sides - it wasn't build for cows with horns! We shall have to rethink the horns or our feeding systems before we get to winter...
